Mr. RuckhaIus, I appreciate your insight and the works you have published. I've used As Though We Were Dreaming as my Lenten study for two years in a row now. I'm currently enjoying Wicked Rich, Wicked Poor. It too has ended up a very colorful read with all the highlighting and notes I've marked. -- Steve Sheridan
It is rare for me to finish a spiritual book and want to turn around and reread it to pick up what insights and wisdom I missed but this book was one of them. Mr. Ruckhaus has a very easy style of writing that never ends up being academic for its own sake but opens up the history and meaning of scripture. I was most impressed how he wove past attitudes and actions of those during the exile and return to modern day challenges in our society. He has given me much to think about and meditate on. I look forward to searching out his other books. -- Autumn
Keith Ruckhaus’s As Though We Were Dreaming delves into the historical depths of the “ground up” prayers, the Songs of Ascent, with an insight born of personal experience—both in mind and on foot. I found myself considering a sleepless and waterproof God, and a faith founded on “a gut level notion of love.” Whether it be through the narrative of the fifth-century Jewish songwriter or the current-day mountain climber, Ruckhaus poetically illuminates the meaning of repentance and the journey of ascent. -Megan Nix, author of Remedies for Sorrow
